Cabbage Apps is a digital product developer who serves startups, scale ups and enterprise grade clients all over the world. Founded by two individuals who developed successful digital products themselves, Cabbage Apps walks the fine line between sobriety and motivation with their clients. Having the need to scale their business, Cabbage Apps needed to consolidate their external and internal communications for both client and talent acquisition.
The Nescius has designed a new brand identity for Cabbage Apps, that captures the simplicity of their engagement models. The Identity uses a letter mark, supported by typography to aid distinctiveness and recognizability but the centerpiece of the identity is a visual language created through dissected type. These dissected elements can be rearranged and scaled to create almost any shape or figure, while retaining a distinctively quality that now envelopes the entire brand.
The Nescius worked closely with both founders, Dulitha Wijewantha and Ragulruban Nanthagopal over a period of days, carrying out facilitative workshops to determine the company's short-, medium-and long-term strategy. The old identity contained a mark with a cabbage leaf which the Team decided to retire, creating a void in the identity, which was then filled through the development of the lettermark logo – a commonly used shorthand for the company, and elements of the dissected typeface, which we consider the building blocks of the identity.
The typeface, Obviously, is a supremely versatile, emotive creation developed by the Oh No Type Company.
